Inngot, PatSnap Academy on IP-backed finance

13 Dec 2019

Inngot has been working with Intellectual Property and innovation training and knowledge sharing site, Academy by PatSnap, to deliver a series of videos exploring IP-backed finance, the value of IP and intangible assets and how companies can be helped to unlock the value tied up in home-grown knowledge-based assets.

In the course, Inngot’s CEO and co-founder, Martin Brassell, discusses: why IP and intangibles have value and why that value is becoming more and more relevant to business success in the 21st century; the challenges which frustrate companies from using their own IP as collateral to borrow money; and potential solutions being trialled around the world.

Academy by PatSnap will be launching the full course on its site in January. In advance, it has released a ‘teaser’ video which invites anyone interested in the course to sign up to be notified when it goes live.

The website offers free access to training from specialists in IP and innovation from around the world, including guest lecturers from universities and consultancies and experts in all areas of intellectual property. The site’s parent, PatSnap, offers a comprehensive R&D dataset in one easy to use platform, targeting innovation leaders and providing them with tools to analyse tech trends, assess new opportunities, conduct competitor intelligence and maximise return on IP assets.

Martin Brassell is recognised globally as an expert in IP and IP-backed finance. He is consulted by government bodies and Non-Governmental Organisations on a regular basis, speaks on the topic at international conferences and has authored numerous articles and research reports.

He recently co-authored an influential report for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) on ‘Fostering the use of intangibles to strengthen SME access to finance’, published in January 2019. In addition to the recent OECD report, he has also co-authored Economic Approaches to Intellectual Property, with Dr Nicola Searle (OUP, 2016), and reports and publications for the UK’s Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), amongst others.

Inngot offers a suite of online tools to help innovative businesses identify, manage and value Intellectual Property and intangible assets. A number of UK banks and lenders have incorporated Inngot's tools into their IP-backed finance products and services. In addition to its IP valuation tools, Inngot contributes to the international debate on how best to help SMEs in particular uncover and leverage the value locked up in their IP and intangible assets and offers bespoke IP valuation and technology valuation services.
